Wladimir Klitschko Will Face Tony Thompson Next

In his recent visit to Puerto Rico, Wladimir Klitschko (50-3, 44 KOs) stated that this summer in July (no specific date as of yet) he will face WBO #1 mandatory Tony "The Tiger" Thompson (31-1, 19KO's)**. He said this when WBO president Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel decorated his Champ, afterwards told to Klitschko in relation to PICTURE exclusively HIS next plans: "I will defend my first WBO title in July against USA Fighter Tony Thompson."

His reason for choosing Tony over IBF mandatory Alexander Povetkin is becasue Tony Thompson has been waiting over a year as the # 1 rated heavyweight for the WBO organization. It should be noted that Wladimir just recently acquired the WBO strap by defeating Sultan Ibragimov.

Since Wladimir also holds the IBF heavyweight strap, whoever wins this fight (I'm betting Klitschko), will have a IBF mandatory with Alexander Povetkin (15-0, 11 KOs) by the end of the year.

Good luck to Wlad on his upcoming training & fight.

**tentative date not official as of yet
