Toney Wants Fight With Klitschko's

After Vitali Klitschko's victory last Saturday night over Arreola, James Toney once again expressed his desire to face one of the Klitschko's. He seems to think his low level title belt warrants him some chance at a title shot at the Klitschko's and claim they have been ducking him. Yeah right! Funny! Here's the video where he's interviewed:

Klitschko Arreola Post Fight Press Conference

This is video footage of the post fight press conference that happened after the Vitali Klitschko vs Chris Arreola WBC heavyweight championship fight in the Staples Center on September 26th, 2009.

Vitali was very respectful to Arreola once again like he was before and after the fight when interviewed by Larry Merchant. He believes Arreola has what it takes to be a champion in the future and compliments Arreola on his chin and heart. He also talks about how he really wanted to send his opponent to the floor but could not.

Arreola basically complimented Vitali and said he basically got his *** kicked.

Klitschko TKO's Arreola!

Vitali Klitschko put on a dominant fight tonight as he totally outboxed the WBC #1 contender Chris Arreola to retain his WBC heavyweight title via a corner stoppage after round 10 of the scheduled 12 round fight.

Arreola tried very hard to get inside Vitali has a A+ strategy that he implemented at will and by round 9 Arreola was getting hit more and more and could not muster any kind of attack. Thus, why the ref stopped the fight after another round of Vitali hitting at will.

Congratulation Vitali on a solid victory, and good luck to Arreola in the future. Like Vitali said, Arreola has the skills to be a champion, just not now.

Klitschko Arreola Prediction

*from earlier post...

This is my prediction on how the WBC heavyweight championship fight will go this Saturday, September 26th at the Staples Center between current WBC champ Vitali Klitschko and Chris Arreola.

I think Arreola's best chance is to come out guns blazing in hopes to catch Vitali and not worry about running out of energy. I say this because I think any other tactic will be a for sure loss, and it's because of this I see Vitali winning this fight.

If Arreola does come out on fire at the very least if he loses he can show a valiant effort and have the excuse that he wasn't in the best shape possible to go all the rounds etc..

But, I don's see it happening like that, or at least having success at doing it if he does. I think Vitali will control him with his jab and footwork and although Arreola might have the plan to come in and go crazy he will soon become frustrated with getting hit with Vitali's shots and will start to go through the motions.

Vitali will start landing more right crosses by round 4 and by round 6 or 7 I think Arreola will be too tired to mount a proper offense or defense and will start getting hit at almost will. I see this being a TKO stoppage around rounds 7 through 9.

Good luck to Vitali tonight, and if anyone wants to chat with other fans worldwide you can go here during fight time at 10pm ET/ 7pm PT.

Klitschko Arreola Weigh In

Today was the weigh-in for the WBC heavyweight champion Vitali KLitschko and WBC #1 ranked Chris Arreola ahead of their fight this Saturday, Sept. 26th at the Staples Center in LA, CA.

Vitali Klitschko weighed in at 252 lbs and Chris Arreola weighed in at 251 lbs, although he was 1st weighed at 272 lbs only to reveal he had a weighted vest on under his shirt. This was in humor since the press had been commenting on his weight leading up to the fight.

They stared down for several minutes, and the humor they had up to this point was gone. Arreola commented afterwords, "Come Saturday, I guarantee, me and this man Vitali Klitschko, we're going to put on a show!"

Vitali also commented saying, "Enjoy the real heavyweight championship [fight] of the world!"

Klitschko Open Workout Quotes

“I enjoy this time. I enjoy this moment. I enjoy this moment by bringing my friends a title fight in Los Angeles. It’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was a teenager. This time everybody is saying, ‘sorry, we don’t believe you can do it.’ I will show my skills and punch in the ring on Saturday."

“This will be fight No. 3 at STAPLES Center and I spend a lot of time in Los Angeles. I have a lot of friends here and Los Angeles has a huge boxing community. It’s the Goossens, the home of a lot of fighters. To be at STAPLES Center -- for me, it’s the biggest arena and I’m ready to fight there."

“I’m always in shape. It’s never tough to get in shape. I don’t drink, don’t smoke, don't do drugs. I always, always maintain the fitness."

Arreola Open Workout Quotes

“It’s going to be a changing of the guard. Very simple. The steel curtain is closed and now I own it. It’s gonna be my time.

“It’s not gonna go far; plain and simple It’s gonna be a knockout fight and it’s gonna be an exciting fight. It’s something in the heavyweight division the fans have been waiting a long time for.

“I’m gonna bring emotion as far as determination to win the title for Mexicans and Mexican-Americans to celebrate, and determination to keep the title out here in the United States. That’s my main goal.”

After the press conference Ring Magazine awarded Wladimir Klitschko with their belt adding to his 3 belts making it 4 total with the WBO, IBF, and IBO. He was awarded this Ring belt because he defeated the Ring's #3 ranked Ruslan Chagaev in his last fight.

Tom Loeffler Interview At Klitschko Arreola At Final Press Conference

Here are quotes from the final press conference..

Vitali Klitschko Quotes

“The question is, who will be the winner? I don’t know. It’s a heavyweight fight; it’s boxing, where any one punch can decide the outcome."

“After five weeks of training, 100 miles of running, and over 100 rounds of sparring, I can now answer that question. I am in great shape, ready for a great performance and ready to show my skills in the ring."

“Five weeks ago, if you asked me that question (who would win?), I wouldn’t have been able to answer it. Now, after my training camp, I can tell you that I will win."

“Arreola is a tough guy, a big puncher, but he doesn’t have the experience in the ring."

“Saturday will be a real good fight. If you have good opponents, you look good."

“This will be a real heavyweight fight. I am more than sure that I will exit the ring as heavyweight champion of the world."

“I know it’s very important to focus on the fight and be 100 percent ready."

“Some people ask if I’m overlooking Arreola and thinking about the future. Chris, I think about you, I prepare for the fight and I will give it my best."

“I take it step by step. I don’t think about the future because there is no future without a victory Saturday night."

“I have never fought anyone with such a good record as Arreola. I know he’s a good fighter and I prepared for the hardest fight of my career."

“Can Arreola beat me? I don’t think so. Can he hit me hard? Maybe."

“It’s very interesting for me because this time I have no injuries and am 100 percent."

“Ten years ago I won my first world title belt. Right now, I have 10 years experience as a world champ. Right now, that will make all the difference."

“He may punch hard, but I’ll duck. He won’t knock me out."

“I am ready and I can’t wait until Saturday night."

Vitali Klitschko also responded to the rumor of him fighting in December: “I don’t know of any fight in December, I too just read about that on the Internet.”

Arreola Quotes

CRISTOBAL ARREOLA

“Vitali Klitschko has never fought anyone like me; someone that’s willing to take a punch to give a punch, or someone that has a lot of heart and fights with emotions.

“There’s always strategy going into a fight. But the thing about it is you always take it as you go in the ring and always you think about training; you have to get inside the jab. You can’t let him stretch his hands out and you go balls to the wall. You take the fight to him and make it a fight he’s not used to.

“This is a fight that definitely won’t go the distance. It’s going to be a fight that everyone’s going to want to see. It is not going be one of those boring jab fests.”

“Not only (becoming the first world heavyweight champion of Mexican descent) would it be history, but it’s a legacy I can leave behind. It means everything to me!”

“It is very hot today and I didn’t want to leave my house but I am here for all my fans. I’m taking this fight personal now, what bugs me is that Klitschko is taking me lightly.”

“I just found out that Klitschko has a set date to fight in December, he hasn’t beaten me and he’s already planning to fight someone else. I find it to be disrespectful. I am no walk in the park, Yeah, he will fight in December but isn’t going to be for a world title, that I guarantee.”

“I have a chance to win, this is not a fight for money. I am here to make history. To me that’s worth a lot more. It really pissed me off about him fighting in December, but it’s a good thing because it motivated me to really kick his ass.”

Henry Ramirez Quotes

*Arreola’s trainer

“He’s ready to go. It’s the week of the fight; we have fight week festivities and we have a few days before we go to work, and we’re ready to go.

“Vitali’s a big guy and it’s kinda hard to get guys to emulate that style. But the thing about Chris that is hard to emulate is the pressure that Chris brings is unlike any other. You cannot emulate it. It is pressure that is unbelievable and he (Klitschko) has never been in with it.

“I agree this fight won’t go the distance, but unlike everybody else I feel the longer it goes the better it is for Chris.”

Dan Goossen Quotes

*President, Goossen Tutor Promotions)

“We’ve had our big fights. The key to this one is realizing there is nothing wrong with getting lost in the moment of fighting for the heavyweight championship and making history. But when everything is said and done you have to go out there and walk through the tunnel at Buckeye Stadium as a freshman QB and go out and do what you do as an athlete, and Arreola will be up to the task.

“When Vitali talks about experience, forget it. The point of it is, experience is great if you’re not ready to play the big game. The great ones overcome all that and just go out and play the game.

“There’s no stopping Chris Arreola, not because he’s my fighter but because he is a true fighter that’s got the will and determination, the guts, the goals, the ability and the willingness. I’ll show you a world champion with what I just described.

“And there isn’t going to be anything that stops him Saturday night. That is my belief. Arreola will knock him out.”

Bernd Boente Quotes

*Managing director of KMG(Klitschko Management Group)

“I think it’s a fantastic fight and STAPLES (Center) is the right place to do it. It’s a very, very tough, young gun over here with Chris Arreola. He’s unbeaten, and he wants to prove that he can also be the best in the division."

“On the other hand, we have a very, very experienced three-time heavyweight champion with the best knockout percentage in the heavyweight division ever. I think it’s a great, great matchup and this is exactly what the heavyweight division needs."

“I’m looking forward to a great fight. The media interest is gigantic. We have, I think, 380 media requests from journalists who want to come to this fight. We have 113 countries who are broadcasting it, including the biggest Chinese TV station and the biggest Russian TV station. So, it’s gigantic."

“I’m sure it’ll be a great fight and a great win by Vitali Klitschko.”

Fritz Sdunek Quotes

*Vitali Klitschko’s Trainer

“We’re happy to be back in L.A. We had a great training camp and we went swimming at UCLA. We’re really looking forward to Saturday night. Vitali is in great shape and didn’t have any injuries while training. We’ll probably see a knockout on Saturday night."

Tom Loeffler Quotes

*Directing manager of K2 Promotions

“We’re really excited about Saturday’s fight card. It’s really a worldwide event. It will be broadcast in over 100 countries internationally.”

“I think Dan (Goossen) will agree, and I think the fighters have already said in a number of interviews: This fight’s not going 12 rounds. It’s not going to be a boxing show. It’s going to be a knockout spectacle. Vitali, with his knockout ratio, and Chris isn’t going to run from Vitali.

“There will be fireworks aplenty this Saturday at STAPLES Center.”

Ivan Goldman Quotes

RING Magazine Representative, who presented the belt to Wladimir Klitschko

“When you have a good fight, a good fighter will win and a good fighter will lose. Vitali Klitschko had the Ring Magazine belt before he retired and now this is just the second set of brothers to hold the Ring belt."

“Wladimir makes it look easy, and he made it look easy against (Ruslan) Chagaev. But, we know it’s not easy. He’s a gentleman and a proud fighter, and it’s my pleasure to award this belt to Wladimir. It’s a difficult belt to win and it’s my pleasure to give it to a great champ.”

Wladimir Klitschko Quotes

“It’s going to be a great fight on Saturday night. I wish both my brother and Chris good luck in the fight.

“Thank you for the belt. For five years I have been hunting for this belt, and now I have it. It is an honor to have it

Tony Wlaker Quotes

*HBO representative

“We’re all looking forward to Saturday’s show being what a heavyweight fight should be – lots of action and two big guys going at it to show who the best is. Vitali and Chris have never disappointed in their action in the ring, and I know we’re going to see just a great show Saturday night.”

This is the undercard....

Arreola In Great Shape For Klitschko Fight?

There have been a lot of questions about Chris Arreola's conditioning coming into his fight this Saturday, September 26th at the Staples Center, but in this recent video a lot of questions have been answered. It appears he's hired one of the top conditioning trainers in the world and has been putting in the work. Here's the video...

Mexican Boxing Greats On Klitschko vs Arreola

Ahead of the WBC heavyweight championship fight this Saturday, September 26th between current WBC champ Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 KO) and the WBC #1 contender Chris Arreola(27-0, 24 KOs), a few Mexican boxing greats gave their opinion on how the fight will go including Julio Cesar Chavez, Erik “El Terrible” Morales, Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez, Pipino Cuevas, Ruben Olivares, Rafael Ruelas, Gabriel Ruelas, and Carlos Zarate. Here's what they had to say.

Chavez on Klitschko vs Arreola

“It is always good that a fellow countryman tries to accomplish some feat in boxing. If Arreola defeats Klitschko, he will go down in history as one of the big surprises.”

Morales on Klitschko vs Arreola

“It is a real event to Mexican boxing. Moreover if Cristobal wins the title, it will be the cherry on top of the cake in the history of Mexican boxing, as we have had great fighters in almost all the weight divisions, but in this one, which is the most difficult division in boxing, we had never had a great fighter.”

Gonzalez on Klitschko vs Arreola

“We will be paying a lot of attention to what Arreola does against Klitschko. I find it very difficult for Chris to win this bout, however we should not forget he is an undefeated fighter, and he has a hard punch.”

Cuevas on Klitschko vs Arreola

“It is a great opportunity and it should be taken advantage of. I hope Arreola wins. He has a hard punch, and he cannot be ruled out. But the current champion, Klitschko, has more power in his fists than any other fighter. It is a very tough fight for Arreola, but if he wins, all the success will be for him.”

Olivares on Klitschko vs Arreola

“The fact that boxers like Arreola have the opportunity to fight for the WBC World Title is very good, so that we know if he is capable of winning it or not. If Arreola wins, that will have a great impact on boxing, which is what we are waiting for. Arreola must show he has the balls, just like a real Mexican fighter does.”

Rafael Ruelas on Klitschko vs Arreola

“Based on the fights that I’ve seen, I think his chances are very good. He’s a strong-willed indivdual and it takes a lot of willpower and courage to go after a champion. I think that’s a quality he has along with the power in his hands, which will increase his chances tremendously.”

Gabriel Ruelas on Klitschko vs Arreola

“I’ve seen many of their fights and I think Chris has got a very good chance. I think he’s going to surprise Klitschko. He is very, very strong and hits hard. This is a very important fight for the Mexican people because we have never had a heavyweight champion. This would put us further on the map and he knows that, so I think that motivation is going to help him push forward. I believe he’s got a great chance; I do. Not just a good chance, but a great chance!”

Zarate on Klitschko vs Arreola

“It seems to be a difficult bout for Arreola, but taking his record into account, he has probabilities to win, as Klitschko has already fought a lot. If Arreola wins, it will be something shocking. Imagine! The first Mexican to win a heavyweight world title. He could become an idol in Mexico like Raul ‘El Raton” Macias, Ruben ‘El Puas’ Olivares and Julio Cesar Chavez.”

Klitschko vs Arreola Prediction

That's my prediction what do you think?

Here are some other predictions from boxing fans off of Youtube. Enjoy!

Klitschko On Haye, Povetkin, Chambers, & Don King

Current WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko was recently interviewed in the German newspaper “Sport den’ za dnem” and had some things to say about David Haye, Alexander Povetkin, Eddie Chambers, and the promoter Don King...

Klitschko On Choosing To Fight Chambers Over Haye & Povetkin

“There are a lot of reasons explaining why I’ll fight Chambers. Povetkin had a real chance to fight me last December. But in the end we had to look for another opponent in 4-5 weeks before the fight. Then the same story happened with David Haye. Except in that case we had even less time for the search. To tell you the truth, these two incidents left and unpleasant aftertaste. I’ve read the interview of Povetkin’s new trainer where he says that it’s too early for the Russian to step into the ring with Klitschko. All that combined embarrasses me. That is why I’ve chosen Chambers, at least his situation is clear. As for Haye, I’ve already got tired of commenting on his behavior”.

Klitschko On Why He Chose To Fight Haye

“Do you know why I chose Haye? Because he was interesting for the public. Interesting because of his shameless and provocative behavior, I can’t find other words for it. But in that way he earned himself certain fame. A lot of boxing fans wanted to see us fight. And that interest is directly connected with the financial aspects. In every bout our promotional company always wants to get two victories – sporting in the ring and financial outside of it”

Klitschko On Don King Losing His Influence

“Do I feel sorry for King? It’s like to enter the cage with a bear and to feel sorry that he is hungry."

Klitschko Quotes From Jim Rome Show

Yesterday, the WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko was on the Jim Rome show and had alot to say about his upcoming fight with Chris Arreola on September 26th, Lennox Lewis, his comeback, and about fighting his brother Wladimir. Here

Vitali Klitschko: “This fight will be very interesting because Cris Arreola is the (WBC) No. 1 contender. He is undefeated, very young, very tough fighter. Right now, I have to defend my world title against the next generation. I am not the youngest one in the heavyweight division. I am already 38 years old, but I feel very good. I have a lot of experience and I am preparing right now for Sept. 26 to show all boxing fans a good performance. Of course, everyone wants a very good fight, especially with two fighters with a very high knockout percentage. The fight will not go all 12 rounds, which means it will be a knockout for one side or the other. I’ll give my best to keep my title as long as possible, and that means I’ll give my best to send my opponent to the floor..”

Rome: Talk about the challenges that he (Arreola) presents with his brawling style.

“As world champion, I have to be ready to defend my title against any fighter with many different styles. I have a lot of experience. You can’t buy experience at the store. Experience you take with age. That’s why most fighters in the heavyweight division have good results after 20 years old.

Vitali Klitschko: “I’m 6-foot-7, Cris Arreola is 6-foot-3, 6-foot-4. He’s actually a little bit heavier than me and a little bit shorter. He’s a big puncher with very good combinations. I have to be ready for all 12 rounds, which means I need very good conditioning. I try to work in long distance, but I have to be ready for very short distance. I have to be ready to find the mistakes of my opponents and use the mistake to send my opponent to the floor.

“Cris Arreola is not the same height as me. When I fought Lennox Lewis in 2003, he was the same height as me. Usually, my opponents are a little bit shorter than me. I’ve developed my strategy and my plan for the fight and I want to present my strategy in the fight on Sept. 26.”

Rome: You mentioned Lennox Lewis and that fight in 2003. Many had you winning that fight but you suffered that devastating cut. Do you find yourself looking back to that fight and what happened that night?

Vitali Klitschko: “I appreciate it, Lennox Lewis gave me a chance to prove my skills against the strongest fighter in the world, Lennox Lewis, the legend. He was very strong. I’ve never got (been hit with) as many punches as in the Lennox fight. It was not an easy fight. Everybody thought I was ahead on the scorecards, but I had a huge cut above my eye and the doctor stopped the fight. I’m more that sure that if the doctor didn’t stop the fight I’d have given my best to beat Lennox because it was my goal and dream to be world champion.

“Lennox Lewis inside the ring promised to give me a rematch, and in the next fight I had a very impressive knockout. Lennox thought about it, discussed with his family and decided to announce his retirement. Everybody wanted a second fight against Lennox Lewis, but right now Lennox Lewis is in retirement and I have to fight other fighters from the new generation.”

Rome:He seems to be the one guy that when he retired, he stayed retired. In the back of your mind, do you hold out hope that maybe you could still fight him? Have you ever engaged him in the conversation to get him to come out of retirement and fight him once again?

Vitali Klitschko: “I’ve talked to Lennox Lewis. I tell him, ‘Lennox, keep your word. You’re a gentleman. If you promised me (a rematch), you have to keep your word.’ One time, he invited me to his office in London and said, ‘I want to talk to you directly, no lawyers, no managers, just you and me.’ I came to his office and in the room was Lennox Lewis and his mom. I talked to Lennox for one hour, his mom looked at me and scanned his eyes for a long time. It was very funny. After that discussion, the next day Lennox Lewis called me and said, ‘you know what, I don’t want to fight you.’ It’s my personal opinion that that wasn’t the opinion of Lennox Lewis, but the opinion of his mom.”

Rome:When you came back (from four year retirement), how much rust was there to knock off and what was it like getting your skills back again?

Vitali Klitschko: “Almost four years I spent on recovery. I felt good; I took medical exams and decided to come back. I fought against world champion Samuel Peter, I stopped him in eight rounds and I took my title back. You know what? It’s always a huge motivation to make your dream come true. I had a dream with my brother to be the world champion, I did that. Right now, we have three world titles and we almost control the heavyweight division. I hope in the next couple of months we will take the last heavyweight title for our family. It’s not easy, but it’s our dream. I enjoy making my dreams come true.”

Rome: It seems incomprehensible to me that you would ever decide to fight your brother. I can’t imagine there’s any amount of money in the world that would get you to consider fighting him. But, did you and Wladimir ever discuss it for even one second and say, ‘could we possibly do this?’

Vitali Klitschko: “Of course, everyone wants to know who is the strongest heavyweight fighter? Right now, my brother has two titles. He’s world champion, I’m world champion. Yes, of course, the question is who is the strongest between the two brothers. Many people want to see the fight, Wladimir Klitschko vs. Vitali Klitschko, and who is the strongest one. It’s not a secret that the main goal in boxing is to send your opponent to the floor as quickly as possible.

“The closest person in the world to me is my brother. He’s not just a friend, he’s not just my brother, he’s a very close friend of mine. I like him so much and I don’t want to fight him. Our mom is very nervous when one of her sons fights. Can you imagine if our mom knew that one son was fighting against another one? Maybe one son knocks out another one. It’s too much pressure for our mom, and, to be honest, we don’t want to break our mom’s heart. This way, we play chess, we play table tennis, but we won’t fight.”

Vitali Klitschko Workout In LA

On Wednesday, the current WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko(37-2, 36 KOs) held a public media workout in Las Angeles, CA at the Pound4Pound Gym ahead of his WBC championship fight September 26th with the current WBC #1 contender Chris Arreola(27-0, 24 KOs).

Besides showcasing his skills, Vitali donated 100 tickets for the fight to the Los Angeles Firefighter's Association.

Here are quotes from the media workout...

Vitali Klitschko Quotes

“I hope everyone at STAPLES Center will enjoy the fight. I’m preparing for a real battle against Arreola. He is a very strong fighter and the No. 1 contender for the world title. He wants to take my title away, but I won’t let him do that. I feel comfortable in the gym. I’ve been training hard. I’m in good shape now, but not in my best shape. I’ll be in my best shape for the fight.

“David Haye is not a serious fighter. I doubt he had an injury when he gave up the fight against (Vitali’s younger brother and IBF/WBO heavyweight champion) Wladimir. We gave Haye the same contract as he got with Wladimir. Against me, Haye had little chance to take the title. That’s why he didn’t want to fight. He’s un-serious. I don’t think about him anymore. Right now, I focus on Arreola.

“Arreola is undefeated and rated No. 1. He’s a very strong and tough fighter. It will not be an easy fight. I want to show everyone that I will be the strongest one on Sept. 26. I know Arreola will train very well for this fight. I take him very seriously. I will be in top shape and I will give my best. You will see in my performance on Sept. 26. Arreola has a big punch and a big heart as do all Mexican fighters. Nothing about this fight will be simple, but I will win.

“Every day, I’m asked ‘where do I live?’ I love being in Los Angeles where I have my house. I also have many friends and a place in Germany and at the same time I’m a Ukrainian citizen. But I’m a sportsman and travel around the world. If you want to know where I stay the most, it is in a plane. For boxing fans, it’s not a question of which country you’re from, or which flag you wave. It’s about performance in the ring. That’s what the fans appreciate. Which country you’re from, which country you’re a citizen in, is not an important question.

“I doubt the fight will be won by decision. The fight will be much shorter than 12 rounds. Arreola is a good fighter. I don’t want to underestimate him. I don’t want to make mistakes. I will show him my skills. I am much stronger than Arreola. Arreola has a big heart and a big punch. But I have a big punch, too. I know Mexicans are huge boxing fans and they are very knowledgeable. But it’s not the color of your skin or your nationality that they root for. I have a lot of Mexican fans who support me every fight and I’m very thankful for that.

“I understand some people will be against me and it will mean very much to have a Mexican world champion. But I’ve got to tell them, ’sorry.’ Nothing against Mexicans, nothing against any nationalities, but, we, the fighters, prove our boxing skills in the ring.

“I remember the Lennox Lewis fight where the fans cheered with a lot of energy and emotion for sports skills. In the end, they’re not rooting for the nationality or for the religion, but for the sport. That’s why I love boxing and looking forward to my fight against Arreola Sept. 26 in Los Angeles.”

Tom Loeffler Quotes

*K2 Promotions Managing Director

“Vitali has a house on the hillside in Los Angeles where he can see all the fires, and he really appreciates the hard work and dedication from all the firefighters. Donating 100 tickets to the Firefighters Association is Vitali’s way of thanking them for all their hard work and efforts while putting their lives on the line to keep the people of Los Angeles safe.”

“Arreola has been challenging Vitali for a long time and says he’s always wanted to fight Vitali. Vitali has never ducked Arreola. He regained the title against Sam Peter. He made his first defense, which was a mandatory defense against Juan Carlos Gomez. Now Arreola is the No. 1 contender so he is the natural opponent for Vitali.
It definitely made sense to bring Vitali and this fight back to Los Angeles. Vitali’s making history by being in the third heavyweight championship fight at STAPLES. He’s the only one to do that. Arreola will also make history if he wins. It’s good to come here to Los Angeles and STAPLES Center. It was something Vitali wanted to do. This fight was a natural for STAPLES; Arreola living in Riverside, Vitali having a house in Los Angeles. His children were born here in Los Angeles. It’s the only place this fight could have happened.

“This is a great matchup. Vitali has the highest knockout ratio of any active champion and Arreola is unbeaten with 24 knockouts in 27 fights. It’s really a fight fans’ dream. And where else can you get a ticket for a heavyweight championship fight for $25? We did that on purpose to allow the true fight fan to come out and see this caliber of fight. We’re expecting a full house.”

Fritz Sdunek Quotes

*Klitschko's Trainer

“Vitali has been working really hard for this fight and is getting better and stronger every day. We’re still a few weeks out, but he will be 100 percent by fight night.”
