It looks as though the WBA has approved of the optional defense instead of facing WBA regular champion Alexander Povetkin. The details as to why Wladimir is not anxious to face Povetkin has nothing to do with being afraid of him. Povetkin has pulled out twice in the past when they were going to meet and most likely there are negotiation problems.

The 28 year old Pianeta has a solid record of (28-0-1, 15 KO) and also matches up physically with Wladimir standing at 6'5" and is also a southpaw which are never easy to fight.

I don't see this fight lasting long and will showcase Wladimir's physical arsenal. Look for a Povetkin fight later in the year which I think will be even easier of a fight than this one for Wladimir and maybe a 3rd fight down the road with someone such as Jennings this year. He also talked about mma recently and said , "To be honest I didn't really like [MMA] before. But when I was watching it, I got into the style of MMA and I think I have a lot of respect for MMA fighters. It's a very tough sport... You have to be so multi-functional, you have to be a wrestler, you have to be a good kickboxer, you have to be a good boxer, you have to be with good condition."
"I want to try the fitness. Just get in an MMA gym and just practice certain things. I used to wrestle, and I did judo when I was younger. As training, as fitness, perfect. Fighting, no."

Both Wladimir and his brother attended the memorial and Wladimir gave a very good speech to pay his respects to his friend and trainer for the last 9 years. Wladimir established his jab and Wach never had an answer. To Wach's credit though he could take some heavy hits and definitely has a good chin. The only part of the fight where Wach had any success was the end of round 5 where he landed a heavy right and Wladimir appeared to be in a little trouble but rebounded quickly between rounds. Scores were 120-107, 120-107, 119-109. Wladimir improves to (59-3, 51 KOs) while Wach's record goes to (27-1, 15 KOs)...Brandanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02473140486210939688noreply@blogger.com0
