Klitschko KO's Solis

The fight started off with Solis showing some pretty good movement and Vitali Klitschko sticking behind his jab and keeping a good distance, but it was soon over. Solis came lunging in with a couple shots that didn't get to Vitali who kept his distance and Vitali ended up catching Solis with a right hook right on Solis' temple. You can immediately see Solis' left leg go dead and he then falls back onto the canvas grasping his leg. He couldn't get up and the referee called the fight off when he did get up.

So that's it Vitali Klitschko wins by KO 1st round over Odlanier Solis.  Vitali improves to 42-2, 39 KO.

Klitschko Haye Is On!

The contract has been signed and the fight between WBO/IBF/IBO/RING heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is on.  The fight will either take place on June 25th or July 2nd somewhere in Europe. The contract also states that in the event that the fight can't be made with Wladimir Klitschko due to his abdominal injury not being fully healed then Vitali Klitschko would fight David Haye.

Wladimir Klitschko Quotes

"I am happy that a fight has finally been realized. It is my brother's and my dream to unify all four belts in the Klitschko family. I will not let this chance go by. Haye has twice dropped out of a fight with us and now he has already started to do a lot of trash talking again. It is time to let our fists speak!"

David Haye Quotes

"I always believed we'd one day fight and I am glad we have cut through the nonsense and put together the most important fight in the heavyweight division. This is an inevitable fight with an inevitable conclusion: Wladimir Klitschko is getting violently knocked out."

Klitschko Chisora Cancelled

The April 30th fight between WBO/IBF/IBO/RING heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and Dereck Chisora is once again called off because the original abdominal injury he suffered in December is not healed enough that his doctor Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt said he should not endure intensive training in preparation for the bout.

Back in December Wladimir had a CT scan and was diagnosed with a two inch tear on the left side of his abdominal muscle near the bottom of his rib cage. The injury apparently is not fully healed.

Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt Quotes

“Considering the current clinical picture, it is difficult to predict a precise time of rehabilitation. The start of a training camp at this time for a fight in April would be too much of a high risk."

Wladimir Klitschko Quotes

“I am very sorry about cancelling the fight – especially for all fans in the already sold-out SAP arena in Mannheim. I have already fought there three times, 2006 I became World Champion in this arena. However, I am optimistic that soon we’ll have an event in Mannheim.”

Bernd Boente Quotes

*Klitschko's manager

"All this has absolutely nothing to do with a possible Haye fight. [The Haye fight is] getting close, but why should our position except the injury be different now than in January?"

Shelly Finkel Quotes

*Klitschko's advisor

"I don't know if he was shadowboxing or what, but Wladimir said he felt something within the last week. He had it checked out."

Klitschko Haye Almost On

Looks like a fight between Klitschko and David Haye is almost a done deal. Wladimir Klitschko talked recently at Kiev, Ukraine during a master-class for talented children participating in the “Sports Ukraine Build Together” program and had the following to say:

“We have never so far not entered into negotiations with the team of Haye. David for several years has connected his name with Klitschko. This is what he gets. He is an excellent promoter, but in the ring you’ll see what kind of fighter he is. The contract is not signed yet, but we already have something important – a preliminary agreement on July 2. By the end of 2011, all the titles in the heavyweight divison will be mine and Vitali’s. The fight will be in Europe. We are both Europeans and I think that there will be more interest in the Klitschko-Haye in Europe than in the U.S.A. We will divide the money fifty-fifty.”

and here's what David Haye had to say...

"One way or another my next fight is going to be in July. I am hoping it is going to be against Wladimir Klitschko."

"I believe we are pretty close to agreeing. That's what I believe. Whether we are or not is a whole different matter.

"It seems at this stage that we are ready to do it, so hopefully they are. We should know something more in the next few days."

It looks as thought it may be either brother who could face Haye at this stage. Come back for more information.
