Sam Peter Says He's Ready For Either Klitschko

After his 6th round TKO victory over Oleg Maskaev last Saturday (3/8/08), Sam Peter said when interviewed that he's ready for either Klitschko. He suggests he would be willing to take on his only loss, which was to current WBO, IBO, & IBF Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

But, due to the championship emeritus status the WBC granted Vitali Klitschko upon his return, he is next in line to face the Nigerian Nightmare Sam Peter.

Emanuel Steward had this to say about Sam Peter:

"I thought Sam Peter looked sensational tonight," Steward said. "Sam Peter looked like what we want for the heavyweight division.

"It was a highly disciplined fight. Even though he lost (before) to Wladimir, it makes this one big fight that the public wants to see.

"Sam placed his punches tonight. I could see so much more maturity from the first time they fought, when he was still inexperienced. He just kept walking in and getting hit and getting hit.

"Now he slips punches and does things a lot better. He's learned now to be a good professional fighter."
