WBA heavyweight champion ‘in recess’ Ruslan “White Tyson” Chagaev (27-0-1, 20 KOs) defeated undefeated WBA #10 ranked Carl Davis Drumond (26-1, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at the Stadthalle in Rostock, Germany by technical decision. There was a cut caused by an unintentional headbutt in round 3 over his left eye. The ref Gustavo Padilla let the fight go on but after 6 rounds they stopped the bout due to the cut and it went to the scorecards which read: 60-54, 58-56, 58-56 for Ruslan.
Next for Chagaev will be a bout with current WBA champion Nicolai Valuev on June 26th, 2009.
