Klitschko Solis Press Conference

Today was the 1st press conference in Cologne, Germany for the WBC heavyweight title fight that will happen March 19th at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne between current champ Vitali Klitschko and #1 WBC mandatory challenger Odlanier Solis.  Check out press conference footage here.

Vitali Klitschko Quotes

“I have great respect for my opponent. But I will prove that the belt belongs to me. I am confident for this fight. My goal is a knockout win.”

“I have fought a lot of strong opponents but I have never been in the ring with an Olympic gold medallist,” said Klitschko. “I expect a very tough and close fight against a very talented young boxer who comes to take the belt from me. I won’t let that happen though. I will show why I am the champion and defend my title.”

Fritz Sdunek Quotes

*Klitschko's trainer

“Solis is a very successful amateur, but still no great boxing opponent.”

Odlanier Solis Quotes

“We will see the best fight of all time.”

When asked about the toughest fight of his life he smiles and says, “What makes you think that this will be my toughest fight? Can you tell me what makes a boxer a strong or superior boxer? So far all guys I fought had two arms and two legs. I would understand your question if I would fight an opponent with three fists for the first time…”

Ahmet Öner Quotes

**Solis' promoter

“We will make history and put an end to the era of Klitschko.”

** atacking Klitschko's management...

“Usually the team of the challenger starts with thanking the champion’s team for the opportunity”, Oner said. “I’m sorry that we can’t do it this way this time. The Klitschkos did everything they could to avoid this fight. They tried to sneak out of it over and over again. So we don’t thank them. We had to work very hard to get to this point and we deserved this chance. I want to thank the WBC and president Jose Sulaiman and, of course, I thank RTL because they kept the ‘Klitschko legend’ alive over the last years even though they only fought tomato cans in terribly boring snoozers. We will indemnify the German boxing fans for all the sh*tty Klitschko fights they had to endure over the years with one of the greatest heavyweight bouts ever. To me this is history in the making. It is the first time in history that a Cuban A class heavyweight has left the country to fight for the world championship as a pro. Boxing fans will always argue how Ali would have looked against Stevenson and what would have happened if Tyson and Savon would have fought in their primes. In this generation for the first time we have the chance to see what happens when the best Cuban heavyweight fights the best heavyweight of the rest of the world. I put my money on Cuba.”

Klitschko Chisora Final Press Conference

Today was the final press conference for WBO/IBF/IBO/RING heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and challenger Derek Chisora ahead of their title fight this Saturday, December 11th.

Wladimir Klitschko Quotes

“I had a great training camp in Austria and cannot wait to step into the ring. Chisora is unbeaten and determined, he is very skilled and very active in the ring. I am very well prepared and will definitely not underestimate him.

“I will show him what it is like to fight on a championship level against a man in the ring.

“He might have big dreams, but I will send him back to the UK without any belts.”

Dereck Chisora Quotes

“I have the power and I am young so I will take Klitschko into a real fight. Klitschko is 34-years-old, slow and on his downside of his career. I am 29-years-old, very fast and at the peak of my career.”

The fight will be shown live and exclusively on RTL in Germany. In the US, it will be aired on Saturday, Dec.11, 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPN3.com and re-aired the next day, Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Sky Sports will carry the fight live on pay per view in the UK.

Klitschko Chisora Press Conference

Today was the press conference in Mannheim, Germany for the upcoming WBO, IBF, IBO, and Ring heavyweight championship this December 11th between current champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) and voluntary challenger Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KOs) which will take place at the SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany.

Klitschko Quotes

“If you shake hands with Chisora at once you’ll understand that in his fists are a lot of power. I see Chisora in myself – young, self-confident, motivated. In some ways he’s similar to Vitali, who in 2003 had the same motivation before fight with Lennox Lewis. Nobody and nothing could stop him, he wanted to hold the title more than anything. I will give it all to win on December 11th. I won’t allow to dream of Chisora to come true.”

Chisora Quotes

“I saw fight the Klitschko-Briggs on Saturday. It was an embarrassment for boxing. Many Americans boxers come to Germany only with one dream – to survive twelve rounds and then cash their check. Money doesn’t interest me. I would fight only for the title of world champion and I will try to take Wladimir’s belts. In Germany he won the title, and here he will lose it. I’m not a person who speaks much. I simply am going to win on October 11th and take the title home.”

Klitschko Briggs Final Press Conference

Today was the final press conference for WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KOs) and former 2 time champion Shannon Briggs (51-5, 45 KOs), ahead of their fight this Saturday, October 16th at the o2 World in Hamburg, Germany.

In the press conference, Shannon looked in great shape, seemed confident, and got on to Vitali about a comment that supposedly was tasteless in his opinion regarding asthmatics like himself. Vitali seemed amused by Shannon's antics and at one point asked Shannon if he was scared since he was leaving the press conference when it was his turn to speak.

Vitali Klitschko Quotes

“I see that Briggs is in a very good shape. He is a dangerous puncher and a very strong challenger who is a former heavyweight champion. I am ready and prepared for him and I will do everything to make sure to keep my WBC title."

"It is not easy to find an adversary for me or my brother. Shannon accepted immediately to fight me and I thank him for that, but when I hear him say he is going to propel me into retirement, that just makes me laugh. "

Shannon Briggs Quotes

“I had the best training camp of my career. I will fight different than all the other opponents Klitschko had before me. I am not afraid to fight him and I will take his WBC belt to the US.”

"I really feel for you, but you have made a bad choice. You are going to meet an adversary that you have never met before. I can hit, box and dodge my opponent's punches."

"I have never prepared so well for a bout. When I have finished with Vitali, they can bring on Wladimir immediately."

Klitschko Peter Final Press Conference

Monday was the final press conference for IBF, WBO, IBO, and Ring heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 48 KOs) and former WBC champion Sam Peter (34-3, 27 KOs) ahead of their championship fight and rematch from their 2005 fight this Saturday, September 11th at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany.
Peter celebrated his 30th birthday on the day of the press conference and was presented with a cake made out in the design of of boxing ring, and a belt by Klitschko. I'm not sure what the belt part was about but I think it might have been a jab at Peter regarding to not getting his belts, and/or possibly in reference to the situation in his brothers press conference with Peter in which Peter tore away the belt from Vitali's hands.

Klitschko Quotes

“Peter is very fast, powerful and a great puncher. I love to be challenged and I am very much motivated for this fight. Each round I will try to knock Peter out”

"Anything can happen in the ring. A knockout can happen every second. Wladimir tried to provoke Peter by saying, "This is your special day. That's why I'll let you touch the belt and let you hold them, but only today and that's about it. Wladimir held the IBF and WBO belts right before Peter's face. Peter said nothing.

Peter Quotes

“I am happy to be in Germany in again. It will be an excellent, classy fight.”

"I'll give the answers in the ring. I'm going to let my fist speak in the ring and I'll take the belts. This fight is going to be classic."

"I can't wait, and I don't want to say alot because you will see it all in the ring. Watch out and don't miss it. Thank you everyone and especially God. In 2005 I was doing well but people thought my career was over - I knew that this was not the end, it is not going to be over! I have trust in God and I am back, I'm really happy about it. September is my month and it's my moment especially for my career".

Ivaylo Gotsev Quotes

** Peter's manager

"We are going to put the cake into the refrigerator until Saturday, because this is when Samuel will be picking up his real presents - the world champion belts!"

Abel Sanchez Quotes

** Peter's trainer

At one point in the press conference he gets up and says ,"Wladimir is going to get knocked out in round 6."

Emanuel Steward Quotes

** Wladimir's trainer

"Peter has one of the best knockouts. Samuel is an accurate puncher, but Wladimir has been become a complete fighter and is able to control everything. He makes you fight how he wants. He is the best Heavyweight Champion of the World, and he will dominate this fight." Stewards predicts is a 4th or 5th round KO for Klitschko.
