Wladimir Klitschko To Fight Again in 2011

Wladimir Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO’s) will fight either in November or December according to ESPN who was told by Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente that Wlad will fight by the end of the year.  As of now no fighters have been named for possible opponents...

“We are still discussing names of different opponents,” said Boente.

The German network RTL, which has a contract with the Klitschko’s has offered four possible dates for Wlad's next fight: November 19, December 3, December 10 and December 17. Also HBO may be interested in broadcsting the fight and if not possibly ESPN or EPIX.

Klitschko Haye Almost On

Looks like a fight between Klitschko and David Haye is almost a done deal. Wladimir Klitschko talked recently at Kiev, Ukraine during a master-class for talented children participating in the “Sports Ukraine Build Together” program and had the following to say:

“We have never so far not entered into negotiations with the team of Haye. David for several years has connected his name with Klitschko. This is what he gets. He is an excellent promoter, but in the ring you’ll see what kind of fighter he is. The contract is not signed yet, but we already have something important – a preliminary agreement on July 2. By the end of 2011, all the titles in the heavyweight divison will be mine and Vitali’s. The fight will be in Europe. We are both Europeans and I think that there will be more interest in the Klitschko-Haye in Europe than in the U.S.A. We will divide the money fifty-fifty.”

and here's what David Haye had to say...

"One way or another my next fight is going to be in July. I am hoping it is going to be against Wladimir Klitschko."

"I believe we are pretty close to agreeing. That's what I believe. Whether we are or not is a whole different matter.

"It seems at this stage that we are ready to do it, so hopefully they are. We should know something more in the next few days."

It looks as thought it may be either brother who could face Haye at this stage. Come back for more information.

Klitschko Adamek Looks Like It's On

Their had been some discussions many have jumped the gun to report that Wladimir Klitschko would for sure face Tomasz Adamek this fall before anything concrete had surfaced.  In fact, it had been said that either brother could face Adamek this fall.  But, according to Adamek's promoter Kathy Duva her fighter and Klitschko have "ironed out their differences" for a fight this September.

“I think we’re there. “We still have cross our Ts and dot our Is, though.”, said Duva.

Adamek was originally going to face Peter in a IBF elimination bout but instead will most likely fight former champion Hasim Rahman as a tune up(who was 4 and 0 last year against journeyman) before facing Klitschko this September.

Will Wladimir Klitsckho vs David Haye Ever Happen?

It looked as though everything was set for a showdown between WBO/IBF/IBO/RING heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and WBA title holder David Haye for July 2nd of this year. But things fell through. Why?

Well back in December 2010 Wladimir Klitschko was staying busy with a fight with Derick Chisora scheduled for December 11th but ended up and had to pull out of his fight due to a abdominal injury he obtained on his last training session days before his fight. Wladimir Klitschko promised to fight Chisora at some point in the future, but David Haye's name was back in the picture and he and his team were going to see if a mega fight could happen with him 1st but promised Chisora a fight at some time in the future.

Ok so eventually Klitschko and Haye's sides agreed to the terms and the July 2nd date. Wladimir Klitschko hasn't fought since September 11th when he fought Samuel Peter. Keep in mind back in June 2009 Haye backed out of his fight with Wladimir at the last minute saying it was from a "injury" and had tied up Wladimir's year because he was planning on fighting earlier that year back around March but because of the way negotiations went, the fight scheduling didn't happen until June. So, Wladimir doesn't want a repeat of 2009, wants to keep his word to Chisora, and wants a fight just so he isn't rusty especially coming off an abdominal injury.

So what did Haye do? He backs out of the fight for July and blames Wladimir for the fight not happening saying that because Wladimir took a fight against Chisora in April he won't have enough time to prepare for him and promote the fight etc, so that's basically Wladimir opting out of the fight.

Whose business is it Haye's whether Wladimir wants to fight someone before him or not. It would be one thing if the Klitschko/Haye fight was scheduled for March or April but July is a long time. Wladimir hasn't fought since September, it would promote the fight since he's facing a top British fighter in Chisora, and he wouldn't take the fight unless he strongly believes he could make the fight with Haye.

So to make things clear. July 2nd is still available for Haye if he wants it, but it sounds like he is just making excuses to not fight Wladimir. He actually at one point said something about being done with the Klitschko's and he can retire knowing he did all he can to get a fight with them. He hadn't even had negotiations with Vitali when he said that. This guy is milking his belt for all its worth. I can't see how anyone can take this guy seriously.

Wladimir Klitschko Vs TBA On December 11th

Looks like Wladimir Klitschko is not wasting any time on in his next fight and is staying busy with a to be announced opponent on December 11th, which is just 3 months from his last fight on September 11th where he defended against IBF mandatory Samuel peter.  He has both mandatory obligations fulfilled for the IBF and WBO organizations so this will be a voluntary mantch-up.

Who will be his next opponent?  Well a few names are being considered including Dennis Boytsov, Tomasz Adamek, Odlanier Solis, David Tua, and Jean Marc Mormeck.

I think the best fight out of those choices would be against Adamek.  I would definitely stay away from Tua, although that would make a good voluntary fight for Vitali.  It would be 2 fighters not in their prime fighting.  Wladimir needs to fight an up-and-coming fighter in my opinion or someone new to the heavyweight division making noise like Adamek.

Who do you think his next opponent should be?

Vitali Klitschko May Face Briggs

Since negotiations between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and former WBA heavyweight champion Nicolai Valuev appear to not be going too well, there is consideration for a possible matchup with former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs to face Vitali. Briggs is ranked #8 in the WBO rankings currently. Stay tuned for more information...

Klitschko Side On Don King's Valuev Offer

Just recently Don King has said that he is willing to accept the $2.5 million offer from Klitschko's team for Vitali Klitschko to face the former WBC champion Nicolai Valuev that he manages. The problem is Klitschko's team offered this way back at the beginning of the year.

Here's what Klitschko's adviser Shelly Finkel had to say about this situation:

"We offered them the $2.5 million when we had the May date and the soccer stadium as a venue."

and Vitali Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente had this to say:

“That was eight months ago for a stadium fight. Now for weeks we offered them 1.5 million and that’s it. Still more than he gets or even got in any other fight. Valuev comes from a clear defeat against Haye, and all but the judges saw a loss against Holyfield. This is a typical King game. He has nowhere to go. Austin fights Solis for the mandatory position and Valuev has two options left: fight Vitali or fight Haye in a rematch. But we will definitely not raise the money. If Valuev wouldn’t be over seven foot we wouldn’t even discuss a fight. He can take it or fight Haye again.”

"That offer was for a fight that went to Sosnowski. They rejected it. King wanted $2.5 million net, plus he wanted Russian and U.S. TV rights. The guy is completely nuts. It's typical Don King. It's a joke. What he put out was a lie. That offer is over and not available anymore.

"The time of year is different, the venue is different, the exchange rate with the Euro is different. The Sauerland people wanted it for May. They begged for it. But Don didn't want it and now it's over."

"We have offered them $1.5 million for the next fight. We will not raise it one dollar. It has been on the table for weeks. King can't get more than that for Valuev against anyone else and he knows it. Let him go fight Haye again or wait forever."

Let's see how this turns out. I would like to see Klitschko vs Valuev, but don't think it will happen as long as Don King is part of the equation.

IBF: Klitschko vs Haye Fight Deal Still Possible

The IBF originally gave Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye until May 17th to finish negotiations for a exception to fight each other in a unification match instead of Wladimir fighting his mandatory Alexander Povetkin. A deal had not been reached however the IBF has said that that there is still a possibility that if a proposal is sent to them before June 17th, which is the date Wladimir and his team have until to work out a deal with Alexander Povetkin and his team, that they have they still could accept the proposal. It's just not guaranteed like it would have been before May 17th.

The IBF's championship chairman Lindsey Tucker had the following to say:

"If Klitschko (goes ahead?) and submits his request, there is no guarantee that he will receive approval. Wladimir could still reach a deal with Haye and it is possible the unification will get priority over the mandatory defense. (Klitschko-Povetkin is not a sure thing) but the possibility of it happening is very high."

Vitali Klitschko Says He Will KO Haye Within 3

Current WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has recently stated that if a fight between him and current WBA heavyweight champion David Haye ever occurs(Haye backed out of his fight scheduled for last September in late negotiations with Vitali only to take on the then WBA champion Nicolai Valuev), Vitali Klitschko says he will knock him out with 2 to 3 rounds. Here's what Vitali stated...

"We have the negotiations with him(Haye) going. The only thing Haye has to do is to choose one of us – only to find himself horizontally out cold on the canvas later. If he chooses me – I’ll knock him out in 2-3 rounds. But if he accepts Wladimir’s challenge, my brother, as a man of art, will prolong his pleasure and will be painting Haye’s face in pizza colors for all the 12 rounds”

Wladimir Klitschko Calls Out Haye!

Wladimir Klitschko, the curent IBF, IBO, WBO, and Ring heavyweight champion of the world recently called out the WBA heavyweight champ David Haye who he says "bitched out" on fighting both brothers in the past and that he needs to put up because he can't run forever! Jere is his message:

“I want to send this message to boxing fans and directly to David Haye. David, you've bitched out on fighting both Klitschko brothers twice already and now's the time to make it happen. On behalf of the boxing fans around the world, I am officially calling you out to fight me. You can't run away from me forever and you need to follow through with this fight if you want to be respected. I'm ready!!! What're you waiting for?"

and here's the video where he sends this message out to boxing fans worldwide....

Interesting to see how Haye responds to this! I hope this fight goes through and Wlad does the boxing world a favor and puts a beating on Haye.

Adamek On Why He Didn't Fight Vitali Klitschko

Former cruiserweight champion and heavyweight hopeful Tomasz Adamek recently spoke on why he passed up a fight with current WBC champion Vitali Klitschko when Vitali's original opponent pulled out of his fight back in September 2009.

"It was almost a year ago. I got an offer three weeks before the fight. I'm not afraid of a tough fight, but I go into the ring to win, and not just to earn money. At the time I wasn't ready to fight an opponent like Klitschko. God willing our paths will cross one day."

He also discussed a potential fight with the WBA heavyweight champion David Haye if he gets past Chris Arreola on April 24th.

"First, I must meet with Arreola. I know that my promoter discussed something with Haye's manager, but the details are unknown to me."

Klitschko's Fighting Over Who Will Fight Haye

As you already know both Klitschko brothers on 2 different occasion have tried to get a match sealed with the now WBA heavyweight champion David Haye with no success. Haye backed out of a set match with Wladimir Klitschko in June claiming injury and then double negotiated and backed out of a fight with Vitali in September to fight the WBA champion Nicolai Valuev instead.

What it boils down to is Wladimir has more of a personal vendetta against Haye whereas Vitali would like to have 2 major belts like his brother Wladimir has.

So both brothers want to fight Haye next and this is what Vitali Klitschko had to say about the situation.

"I told my brother, 'I want to fight Haye', but he said no, he wants to fight him."

"For him it is personal, but for me I want the title. My brother already has two but I have to clear it with him. I really hope he listens to his older brother. Let's hope my brother listens to me. He must always respect old people."

"Always you need motivation and the motivation is to have all the titles in the family. Everyone wants to see a unification. Champion against champion. Haye has the choice, one of the brothers Klitschko."

"I'll tell Haye it's easier to beat me, because I'm older and I don't have as much energy as my brother. I keep my fingers crossed that he beats Ruiz. Not because I like him, but I want his title and to shut his mouth."

"Maybe we decide by coins who fights him. Let's hope my brother listens to me. He must always respect old people."

I'm kind of undecided on who gets to fight Haye myself. If Vitali was not going to retire soon I'd for sure want to see Vitali fight him, but since he is I'd hate to see 2 belts go back to the sanctioning body cesspool where Wladimir would have to wait forever to recapture the belts. If Wladimir fought him then there would only be the WBC belt to worry about when Vitali retires. But, then again Vitali needs to cement his legacy as well and another belt would help. What do you think? Comment below on who you would go for. I think Vitali should fight him. Wladimir is young enough to take time to capture the other belts.

Klitschko's Team Stands Firm With Valuev

There have been ongoing negotiations for a fight between current WBC champ Vitali Klitschko and former WBA champion Nicolai Valuev. Vitali has given a lot more than he was intending to offer Valuev to begin with ($1 million to now $2.5 million), but still Valuev's team does not thing that is enough. Team Valuev also wants to share money for TV rights in the United States and Russia.

Here's what Klitschko's manager Bernd Bönte had to say about the fight:

"Our offer is very high. We are not going to make any further concessions. So either Valuev takes 1.8 million euros [2.5 million] - or the fight bursts."

Valuev Will Fight Klitschko If Given TV Rights

Vitali Klitschko(39-2, 37 KO’s) has been negotiating with the ex WBA champion Valuev(50-2, 34 KO’s) for awhile now. He started off with giving Nicolai Valuev the chance to fight for the prestigious WBC belt and potentially giving Nicolai a chance at getting a title again at $1 million. Valuev's side with Don King has wanted $4 million for the fight which is ridiculous for a ex champ coming off a loss to demand so much. But, none-the-less, Vitali conceded to offer him $2.5 million dollars. Valuev has now said he will accept that amount if he also gets a portion of money for TV rights in the United States and Russia.

This is what Nicolai had to say:

“Yes, I want to box against Vitali. This is an interesting battle for boxing fans, who have been waiting for it for several years. Last night, I called my manager Don King. The Klitschko side has offered us $2.5 million. We accept this proposal. But we also want money from the TV rights in the U.S. and Russia.”

Hopefully, something can be worked out because I and alot of fans would love to see this fight. But, I honestly think Valuev is demanding too much. We will have to see. If this fight does not go through Vitali may opt to face the unbeaten #2 WBC ranked Odlanier Solis (15-0, 11 KO’s)instead.

Klitschko Gives Valuev Final Offer Of $2.5 Million

As a last minute gesture to show how much he's willing to face the Russian giant Nicolai Valuev, current WBC champ Vitali Klitschko has now said he has offered Valuev $2.5 million for the fight. Previously through negotiations Vitali has offered $1 million then $2 million dollars while Valuev's team countered with wanting $4 million dollars which is an outrageous amount.

$2.5 million dollars is more than Valuev has made in any fights in his career including while champion and now that he is not champion he doesn't seem to think that's enough either. This is after Valuev has stated that Vitali had been running from him throughout his career. I guess $2.5 million isn't enough in Valuev's eyes for a beating! This is what Vitali had to say about the negotiations with Nicolai and his team....

"Valuev knows that I’m interested in a fight with him, - told the Ukrainian to Moskovskiy Komsomolets. – But as I have already stated numerous times Valuev doesn’t decide much. The last word always belongs to Don King and Wilfried Sauerland. As a champion I will dictate my own conditions. And I’ve already made an offer for Valuev. He promised to talk it over with his promoters. I give him a chance to fight for the champion’s belt. Besides, he’s been talking for a while that I avoid him. So now he has his chance and it’s up to him to take it or not."

“I have another voluntary defense and I want to fight against an interesting and exciting opponent. I will surely look into the possible fight with Povetkin. But I want to remind that again all the decisions will be taken by Sasha’s promoter Wilfried Sauerland. If we make an agreement with him – I will fight Povetkin. If we don’t agree – well, he’ll have to wait patiently for his turn."

Klitschko May Face Povetkin or Solis

Now that the potential matchup between Vitali Klitschko and former WBA heavyweight champion Nicolai Valuev has fell through, the WBC heavyweight champion Vitali is looking into potential matchups with the IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin and the WBC #2 ranked Odlanier Solis.

As far as Alexander Povetkin, he is scheduled to be the current WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko's mandatory challenger. However, Vitali thinks that if he were to give Povetkin a voluntary shot this would free up Wladimir from having to face 2 mandatory challenges in a row, and may allow Wladimir to face David Haye and prepare for a faster style.

The other alternative that Vitali is looking at is the WBC #2 ranked unbeaten Cuban contender Odlanier Soils. Solis is an interesting matchup because he defeated the WBA heavyweight champion David Haye back in the 2001 World Championships by 3rd round stoppage. David Haye has pulled out of 2 fights with both Klitschko brothers and both brothers have expressed desire to face Haye. So, this would make a good psychological warfare in Haye's mind if Vitali could defeat pretty convincingly a man who defeated him in the past.

Neither of these fights looks too attractive to me. Solis is the #2 WBC ranked challenger and guess who is ranked #1 and is supposed to have an eliminator with Solis? Ray Austin. Ya, that's the same guy that Vitali's brother Wladimir demolished in 2 rounds only using his left hand. If Vitali beats Solis you could expect a mandatory challenge from Austin which would be a total snooze fest. So hopefully Vitali at least waits unitl Solis beats Austin(which I think he will easily) then fights Solis as a possible 2nd fight this year after fighting someone else.

As far as Povetkin, well it's true that if Vitali beats Povetkin that will free up Wladimir having to face Povetkin, but what might happen, or what will most likely happen is that Vitali will win and HE WILL become the IBF mandatory. This will mean that Wladimir will have to face his own brother as a mandatory. This is something both brothers have expressed they will not due in the past. Have they reconsidered, or was Vitali overlooking that scenario if he beat Povetkin? Not sure, but whoever he fights I hope he fights soon. He is at the end of his career, and I as well as many fans would like to see him go out with a few more solid wins over some solid competition.

I think he should face Denis Boystov. Boystov is ranked in the WBC, and they should be able to make negotiations easily as I believe Boystov is not under the Don King influence and would welcome a chance at the WBC heavyweight title. Boystov is an up and coming, young(21 years old), undefeated( won 27 (KO 22) + lost 0 (KO 0) + drawn 0 = 27), heavyweight and I think he would make the best choice. It would be a win win situation for both. If Vitali wins( as I think he will easily), then Boystov has already fought the best in the division but came up short at a very young age and the loss can be chalked off to just being inexperienced. This will give Vitali a solid win over a guy who is surely to be big name later on in the heavyweight division after Vitali retires which will further cement Vitali's legacy and give Vitali another fight while he waits for David Haye.

So, my recommended next fight for Vitali is Boystov. What's yours? Click 'COMMENTS" below and tell me what you think.

Haye Camp Denies Klitschko Haye Deal

WBA champion David Haye's camp has recently denied reports by current WBC champion Vitali Klitschko that a preliminary agreement has been made for them to fight in 2010. Haye's trainer and manager Adam Booth had the following to say:

“There is absolutely no agreement in place for David Haye to face Vitali Klitschko next year. We have had no contact with Vitali Klitschko or his team and were surprised to see him make those comments over the weekend. David’s next fight will be against American mandatory (#1)challenger John Ruiz, and that will go ahead in either April or May. It will take place in England and David will need to be at his best to come through that. The Klitschkos are very much on our agenda for 2010, but nothing is set in place and nothing has been agreed or arranged. We haven’t heard anything from the Klitschko camp since David won the WBA title and subsequently strengthened his bargaining position.”

Klitschko: Preliminary Agreement For Fight With Haye Made

Current WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has recently stated to a Ukranian newspaper that a preliminary agreement between him and David Haye has been made for a fight to occur in 2010. Here's what Vitali had to say:

"In the near future I plan to fight Haye and take the title. The preliminary agreement has already been reached.."

Klitschko Might Fight Valuev in 2010

WBC champ Vitali Klitschko is looking to fight the WBA champion David Haye next year, but has said that a fight with former WBA champion Nicolai Valuev would still be intriguing and he would start negotiations with him if a deal with Haye can not be reached.

Valuev Quotes

“I wish to fight against Vitali Klitschko. It’ll be an entertaining fight. It’ll be more interesting than when I fought David Haye. The whole fight he just ran from me. Vitali is a great champion. I guarantee it’ll be a big fight. Vitali, I’m ready to fight. Are you?”

Klitschko Quotes

“For me it’s important to meet with David Haye so the Klitschko brothers can get all the world champion belts, but a fight against Nikolay Valuev would be interesting to millions of boxing fans. But if Haye continues to duck me, my team will begin negotiations for a fight against Valuev in 2010.”
