WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko recently was awarded the 2010 boxer of the year by the German boxing magazine BoxSport. Both voters and readers selected Vitali as 1st with his brother Wladimir coming in 2nd with only 4 votes less. Congratulations to the brothers on a great year.
On Friday, June 4, 2010 there was the IBF/USBA convention. The day began early and was dedicated to the judges, referees and medical seminars which are a very important portion of the convention.
The day ended with the organization’s annual banquet with several awards were given out in the evening, including the organization’s most prestigious honor, the Jersey Joe Walcott award, which was awarded to the current IBF/IBO/WBO/RING heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and received by Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.
The Bambi's, which are like the American Oscar's, are a German award ceremony equivalent that have been going on in Germany since 1948. The Bambi's recognize achievement in television, film, music, sport, fashion, and social engagement. Amongst those to receive an award in 2009 were the Klitschko brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitscho. The Track and field gold medalist Edwin Moses presented the trophy to Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko brothers for excellence in the Sports field.

Current WBC champion "Dr. Ironfist" Vitali Klitschko has won the 2009 Laureus Comeback Award as selected by the Laureus World Sports Academy. The announcement for the Laureus Comeback Award was made by the Laureus World Sports Academy Chairman, Edwin Moses, and fellow Academy members Boris Becker and Katarina Witt in Dortmund, Germany just before his brother Wladimir Klitschko’s fight against Ruslan Chagaev this Saturday, June 20th.
