Sosnowski's Ex-Trainer Picks Klitschko To Win

Albert Sosnowski's former trainer Ukrainian Lubomir Palamar has talked recently how he has seen major improvements in Sosnowski over the years, but picks Vitali Klitschko to win come May 29th in their WBC heavyweight championship match.

Palamar On Sosnowski Improvements

“I began to work with Sosnowski in 2001. Right after Sosnowski had lost by knockout to Canadian Arthur Cook. In that bout Sosnowski wasn’t at his best, to put it mildly. He had a lot of technical mistakes, even his punch was set all wrong. Besides he simply wasn’t able to box with southpaws. However Albert was a quick learner – he caught on very fast. Physically he was already strong then, for example he could lift 140 kilos – the result of his trainings with famous Polish strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski. But he had to work on his technique. In his next rating fight Albert was much more convincing and progressed with each bout”.

Palamar On Why He Is Picking Vitali over Sosnowski

“All the trump cards – size, power, reach, champion’s experience are in Vitali’s hands. Now there’s no one better in the heavyweight division than the Klitschko brothers. I watched their recent bouts and was astonished by the fact that they keep on improving, despite their age! So Albert doesn’t really stand a chance. It’s too early for him to face Klitschko. When I worked with Sosnowski, I thought that he would be ready for a championship fight in 2011. But the boxing is beautiful because it’s so unpredictable. So I’ll watch this bout with interest”.

Alexander Povetkin To Hold Presser

Tommorrow on May 1th, the team of heavyweight contender and IBF mandatory Alexander will hold a press conference in MOscow. They are going to give out information regarding how negotiations are going with the current IBF, WBO, IBO, and Ring heavyweight champion Wladimir "Steelhammer" Klitschko. The are also going to talk about their request to have Wladimir go through Olympic style drug testing.

Christian Meyer, the managing director of Sauerland Event, Povetkin's manager Wladimir Hryunow, Victor Ageev who is the president of the Russian Boxing Federation, as well as Grigoriy Rodchenkov who is the director of the Anti-doping Center will be at the presser. Rodchenkov is a expert of chemical science and will offer his solution to the doping control issue before a potential Klitschko vs Povetkin matchup.

Povetkin's trainer Teddy Atlas had the following to say about the Klitschko's:

“They choose the most convenient opponents and shape situations in their favor. The only way to have control over some issues is to have this fight in Russia”

Wow talk about crap. Part of this press conference is about basically saying that they believe the Klitschko's (or at least Wladimir) are "doping" before their fights. This is a pretty strong allegation, and I will be interested in how Wladimir and the Klitschko's respond after this press conference. And Teddy Atlas is an idiot. There's not much more to say about him.

Klitschko vs Chambers In December?

Looks like the current WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko could be fighting the current WBO #1 mandatory challenger "Fast" Eddie Chambers on December 12th, 2009. The original WBO mandatory challenger was Alexander Dimitrenko, but Chambers recently fought Dimitrenko in what Alexander thought would be just another good opponent on his resume and Chambers ended up winning the fight. The fight will most likely be in Germany and will be broadcast on HBO.

Many thought that Wladimir would face the IBF mandatory Alexander Povetkin, but it is said that Povetkin is listening to his new trainer Teddy Atlas and will plan on fighting one more time before stepping in the ring with Wladimir Klitshcko. So most likely it appears that Wladimir Klitschko and Chambers will fight on December 12th.

Chambers Quotes

"I've been thinking about this happening for - you don't want to know how long. I've worked really hard to get here. Now all I need to do is cash in."

Chambers' Trainer and Manager Quotes

"Eddie has no fear of fighting big guys. In a way Dimitrenko was the perfect guy to fight before we fight Klitschko. He [Dimitrenko] may even be more athletic than Klitschko."

Should be a great fight, but no way is Dimitrenko more athletic than Wladimir. That is a joke I hope even from Chambers' trainer and manager!

Klitschko Chagaev New Quotes

Here are some new quotes from Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev and their respective trainers ahead of their championship fight this Saturday, June 20th...

Wladimir Klitschko: “He’s the best opponent you could have asked for. Ruslan is the ideal solution after the cancellation of David Haye. He is the third best boxer after my brother Vitali and myself. He holds the WBA belt. He is the true world champion as he has defeated Nikolai Valuev.”
—–
Ruslan Chagaev: It has always been a big dream to fight at Schalke. Now it becomes reality. I have met the football team of Schalke 04 previous to my fight in 2008 against Matt Skelton. I gave them a boxing lesson together with my trainer Michael Timm. They were very nice. In general the people here are very kind and honest. I’m so excited about the fight. The size difference to Wladimir doesn’t bother me. I have prepared myself to Valuev who is also tall and heavy. I’m expecting to fight for 12 rounds. It is in god’s hands what going to happen on Saturday. I don’t want to say much as I want to let my hands speak in the ring.”
—–
Vitali Klitschko: “Chagaev is stronger, than Haye, but he talks less. He’s a very strong boxer….I’m sure that Wladimir or me would knock out Haye.”
—–
Klitschko trainer Emanuel Steward: “In three of the last of seven fights Wladimir boxed against lefthanders, and in amateur boxing he had huge experience when it was necessary to prepare for some opponents in just days. In the first few days Wladimir felt comfortable.”
—–
Chagaev trainer Michael Timm: “The size of Klitschko has not caused problems as we prepared to Valuev who is even larger than Klitschko. But, certainly we know, that Klitschko is a better boxer, moves quickly and can change tactics. We also prepare for that. We have a recipe for victory, but I certainly shall not tell it to you.”
