Haye Confronts Klitschko On Escalator
In the following video David Haye confronts Wladimir Klitschko on a escalator while before Wladimir starts a charity event in the UK. He makes his case for a fight with Wladimir and Wladimir seems to be enjoying himself over it.
Angle 1
Angle 2
In my opinion, David himself has no ranking at heavyweight and has no current fights at heavyweight. He said that the 2 guys Wlad's facing as mandatory's are not any good, but since Dave has no recent fights at heavyweight against anyone better than Povetkin or Thompson, he isn't better than them as a heavyweight until he proves otherwise.
He also kept mentioning Evander Holyfield as a reason why he should get his shot at Wladimir. David Haye isn't Evander Holyfield and hasn't reached the status of a cruiserweight like Evander had. What's even funnier about Haye's comment about Holyfield is that Holyfield fought at heavyweight for over 2 years before he got his major title shot. So Haye's comment is not a very good justification as to why he should just step up and fight Wladimir. David Haye just needs to get in line and face some quality opposition at heavyweight to prove himself just like Evander Holyfield did if he wants a shot at Wladimir's belts.
Haye Calls Out Klitschko Again
This is a new video in which cruiserweight champion David Haye calls out WBO, IBO, & IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko once again. He seems to be pretty persistent on this topic, and gives his reasons as to why he should given the fight.

New Sam Peter Interview
WBC Heavyweight Champion Samuel "The Nigerian Nightmare" Peter is scheduled to face Vitali Klitschko for the WBC championship later this year. Dan Hernandez of Ringsidereport.com had a recent interview with Sam Peter and this is how it transpired:
Dan Hernandez: You won the heavyweight championship. You must be excited.
Sam Peter: Yeah, I am excited to be champion of the world. It took me many years to put myself together, to be in this position. I am very pleased.
DH: Well congratulations. Do you have any idea how hard you hit?
SP: I put my entire body in every punch. I do everything I can to stay on top.
DH: How many hours a day do you train?
SP: I train everyday. I train five hours a day, when I am preparing for a fight.
DH: How many fights would you like to have a year?
SP: Now that I am champion of the world, I think I should fight at least two or three times every year.
DH: Do you have a wife and children?
SP: Yes, I have children.
DH: Are they with you while you’re training?
SP: No, they can’t be with me often, but everything is OK. Training can be lonesome, but if your goals are clear, if you have plans and know what you want to do, it works out.
DH: Your goals are primary then.
SP: Yeah.
DH: Did you plan to be a boxer when you were younger?
SP: No, I didn’t make that kind of plan. Times were tough and I came to boxing out of desperation.
DH: How much do you weigh in for your fights?
SP: Around 260. The other fighters are big so I have to weigh this much to compete. I do what I have to do.
DH: Did you have a favorite fighter when you were first coming up?
SP: Well, because I didn’t really love boxing, I didn’t have a lot of favorites. I guess Muhammad Ali. He was fast for a big guy.
DH: He looks small compared to you guys.
SP: (Laughter) We are REAL heavyweights!
DH: Are you having a good time being champion?
SP: Yeah, I’m happy to be champion. Boxing is not for everybody. So this is good for me now.
DH: You work so hard to become champion that I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying your status.
SP: Yes, thank you. It is good for the people that work with me also. The people that work for me are also my friends and it is good for everybody. Pops Anderson is very close and he teaches me boxing.
DH: Have you considered what you plan to do after boxing?
SP: Right now, I’m just focusing on boxing. I am watching my money and investing in my future. I have very good advisors and I believe all will be well.
DH: Is there anything that you would like to add?
SP: Well, there is no big deal, but like my father would always say: “If you believe in the lord, your dream will always come true.” You just have to be patient and stay focused on your goals. Nobody can steal or take away your dreams if you stay honest. And I want to thank everybody, especially my father, who always believed in me. And thank you.
Good luck to Vitali on his comeback. Hope he gets by Sam Peter later this year to reclaim his belt. In my opinion he shouldn't have much problem with the fight. Hopefully everything will go well in his training leading up to the fight. That's the only way Sam Peter will prevent himself from losing his WBC belt is if Vitali doesn't show up to the fight for whatever reason.
Wladimir Klitschko Supports New Youngster Project
WBO, IBF and IBO world heavyweight champion WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO is backing a new project called Fight for Peace, a social project aimed at 11 to 21 year olds, which is aimed to get youngsters off the streets and into the gym. Wlad will join boxing legend Barry McGuigan at the combat show Seni 08 on Saturday April, 26Th 2008 to promote Fight for Peace and its new academy in North Greenwich.
Project founder Luke Dowdney said: "I am delighted that Wladimir and Barry are helping to launch Fight for Peace in the UK at Seni 08.
"Their involvement clearly demonstrates that elite champions can also be concerned with the plight of those less fortunate than themselves.
"Having them at the Fight for Peace launch is a real inspiration to the young people at the project who are greatly looking forward to meeting them."
The Fight for Peace academy will offer martial arts, boxing, gym, and personal development classes after school and college hours.

Audley Harrison Wins Over Jason Barnett
2000 Super Heavyweight Gold Medalist Audley "A-Force" Harrison got back on track Saturday night(4/20/08) with a 5Th round TKO stoppage over Jason Barnett. Harrison doesn't seem as though he changed much his fighting style. He used his jab well in the contest and did land a couple crashing lefts(he's a southpaw), but for the most part was very cautious. The crowd responded with boos throughout the contest.
At 254 pounds and 6'5" he did look in good shape and was much bigger than the 224 lb Jason Barnett. He got a win, but at age 36 he needs to step up the competition real quick if he wants a title shot.
With the win, Harrison improved to 22-3(17). Barnett fell to 10-7(4).

Kevin Johnson Defeats Terry Smith
In a 12 round decision heavyweight Kevin Johnson(19-0-1, 6 KOs) remains unbeaten after defeating Terry Smith(30-5-1, 18 KOs) Friday night at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK. Scores were 97-93, 97-93, 96-94. Johnson has now gone the distance in ten of his last eleven.
Kevin mainly used his jab to dominate but there were moments for both fighters. Kevin seems as though he can throw hard when he wants to, and with his pretty good technical skills, especially his jab, I believe he may be a force in the division. I don't think he could beat Wladimir Klitschko, but I don't think anyone can at the moment. But, that doesn't mean he can't challenge for another belt at some time in the future, or be a challenger for one of Wladimir's belts.

Chris Byrd Moves To Light Heavyweight
After his loss to rising heavyweight star Alexander Povetkin last October, Byrd has since decided to drop weight and enter the light heavyweight division. It's been rumored that he was intending to go to the cruiserweight division, but since he was losing weight easily, decided that the light heavyweight division would be more appropriate.
Chris Byrd had fought with Wladimir Klitschko twice in his career and lost on both outings. He also fought Vitali Klitschko in a heavyweight match and won(Vitali suffered and inury and had to pull out). He's been a heavyweight champion twice, and only has 4 losses, so this shows you what a great heavyweight Wladimir Klitscho is.
Chris Byrd(40 wins 4 losses 1 draw) is scheduled to face Shaun George(16 wins 2 loses 2 draws) on May 16th 2008. If he wins, he has already expressed interest in facing the winner of the Bernard Hopkins and Joe Calzaghe fight this Saturday April 19th. I think he may be getting a little ahead of himself, but if he has a good showing against Shaun George and maybe a couple other opponents, his calling out of the winner of Hopkins/Calzaghe could be a good thing from a promotional standpoint.
Good luck to Chris Byrd on his new venture in the light heavyweight division.

Kevin Johnson Facing Terry Smith
On Friday April 18th, up-and-coming heavyweight Kevin Johnson faces his biggest test when he faces Terry Smith (30-4-1, 18 KO's). Terry Smith came up short to Jameel McCline awhile back for the vacant NABO heavyweight title, and has noteworthy wins over fighters such as Kelvin Davis, Julius Long, and Demetrice King. Kevin Johnson (18-0-1, 6 KO's) has wins over fighters of the likes of Damian Wills, Daniel Bispo, Robert Hawkins, and most recently on December 5, 2007, Jermell Barnes.
Kevin Johnson displays an excellent jab, but at a 6-foot-3, 6 ko's out of 19 fights, and a trim 238 pounds many want to see him step up with more convincing wins. When asked about why he wins by jab rather than by more convincing wins Kevin said, "I've had 19 fights, and I ain't never been hit yet. Never been down, dazed or out," Johnson said in defense of his jab-first style. "Larry Holmes always said, 'You do what you been doing that's been working, until it stops working.' And so far, I've been in there with 19 people that can't get past the shotgun jab." He also had an explanation as to why he doesn't go for knockout:
"I'm saving all that for the champions," the 28-year-old New Jersey native said. "They're going to be sitting back, studying tapes of me. They can only study 19 tapes of the jab. They ain't going to get too far."
To me this seem a little ridiculous. You need, especially when starting out your career, to fight to entertain the fans enough so they want to see you more and the promoter will want to promote you more.
Terry also said he's tired of a lot of fighters getting title shots that don't deserve them:
"I'm getting tired of what you're tired of, all these runner-ups and candidates, just coming in as an opponent for a title shot, knowing damn well they ain't the man for the job. I'm tired of it, you know? Everybody wants to fight for the title, but [really], they just want that check."
I guess we'll have to find out Friday night whether or not Kevin Johnson is on the right track. He does seem promising, but does need to step it up as far as competition and more convincing wins. The fight will be shown on ESPN's Friday Night Fights, and live at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma.

What Tony Thompson Thinks About Wladimir Klitschko
Wladimir Klitschko's next fight will be July 12th, 2008 against WBO mandatory challenger Tony "The Tiger" Thompson. In a recent interview by James Slater, Thompson talked about how he feels he will knock out the recognized #1 in the division Wladimir Klitschko. Here's how an interview transpired:
James Slater: Firstly, Tony, you must be over the moon to be getting this fight with Wladimir Klitschko?
Tony Thompson: Yes. I always had faith that I would get my shot. Of course fighters have been avoiding me, what do they want to fight me for? They know they'd get beat if they did. I'm confident I can beat Klitschko. He's gonna get his ass knocked out, if you wanna know the truth. I don't mind telling you either (laughs).
J.S: Did you always have particular faith that the WBO would get you your title shot, being their number one mandatory fighter and all?
T.T: Well, I'm just glad they abided by their rules. I'm happy that they kept their promise of a title shot. I'm also happy that my shot at the title is coming against the man everyone recognises as the real heavyweight champion. I'm so excited about this fight!
J.S: Your win over Krasniqi, which made you the WBO number one. Was that your career-best performance do you feel?
T.T: It was my most important win, my biggest pro-fight. But performance wise, I don't think it was my best. But I knew I had to win that one. With no slip-ups.
J.S: You are considered to be the best heavyweight hope in America. Does that add pressure to your mind, in that the whole country wants you to win the world title?
T.T: No. That don't bring me pressure. What I'm going to do is write a story that's never been written before. For me to have come off the streets and then gone on to win the heavyweight title, that's a brand new story right there.
J.S: Let's talk about Wladimir. Firstly, did you see his last fight, with Sultan Ibragimov?
T.T: I saw the fight, but I wish I hadn't! I was not impressed. Of course, Klitschko dominated with his size advantage and everything, but his [Klitschko's] lack of will was really a letdown. It wasn't a good fight at all.
J.S: Like you, Ibragimov is a southpaw. Do you think the stance gave Wladimir problems and that you will do likewise being a lefty?
T.T: All I can tell you is I'm going to go right out there to fight him hard for 12 rounds. It doesn't really matter what stance I'm attacking him from. If people said Ibragimov's stance gave Klitschko fits, I think it will be my non-stop pressure that what will be giving him fits come July.
J.S: Do you worry that your big chance has perhaps come a little late, in that you're 36 now?
T.T: To be honest with you, I feel I could go on fighting until my forties. That's not what I want to do, but I believe I could if I had to. But no, I don't think I've lost anything with my age. I actually think I've gained in that I'm a lot wiser now than compared to when I was younger. I certainly don't think I've lost any speed, because I wasn't fast to begin with. So that's not an issue.
J.S: Are you angry that you've been made to wait for your shot so long?
T.T: Not angry so much as frustrated and desperate. I was desperate that I wouldn't get my chance to prove myself. I mean, I know I am getting on in years a little - I didn't want to wait this long. Now I'm going to take all my frustration out on Klitschko.
J.S: Your last fight took place in September 2007, when you KO'd Cliff Couser in 2 rounds. By the time you fight Klitschko you will have been out for ten months. Are you worried at all about ring-rust?
T.T: No way. I will do everything possible to ensure I'm in great shape for this fight. In actuality the rest has probably done my body some good. I've had a good break from the ring.
J.S: Of all your career fights so far, who has given you your toughest fight?
T.T: (laughs) You know, a lot of people ask me that question. The answer is always a surprise too. It was a guy named Scott Jones. He was a mail man from Maryland. He was a tubby fat guy, but he was so tough! Looking at him, I felt I'd go right through him. I fought him twice and neither time was it what you could in any way call a cake walk.
J.S: Has this fight with Klitschko come as a total surprise then, or did you have a feeling he'd want to face you as he says he only wants to fight the best out there?
T.T: Well, there was always speculation that we would fight. But in boxing that's all it is most of the time - speculation. But now I'm just so happy to be finally getting my big chance.
How Do I Feel About Thompson's Interview?
Well for starters when Thompson said, "For me to have come off the streets and then gone on to win the heavyweight title, that's a brand new story right there.", I think I may have heard this some place before. Let me think where did I hear this? Ahh I know! I think maybe almost every boxer who existed started off on some form of "the streets"! Ya, thats it.
As far as his notion that he's going to knock his "ass" out, I feel that this kind of statement is beginning to lose its value since almost every Klitschko opponent says this. What happened to the other tall, Amercian hopeful who talked trash before his bout with Klitschko? Let me give you a clue to his name. His 1st name rhymes with Jay and his last name is Austin.
I feel this fight won't go 5 rounds. KO for the KlitschkO brother Wladimir on July 12th, but if he riles up Wladimir before hand, might not last a round or 2.

IBF Permits Wladimir Klitschko and Tony Thompson Fight
Earlier I posted information about how the fight was confirmed between Tony Thompson and Wladimir Klitschko to be held on July 12th, 2008. However, the confirmation by the IBF to allow this fight to proceed wasn't complete at the time. Now the IBF has accepted the permission for Wladimir to face WBO mandatory challenger Tony Thompson instead of their(IBF) mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin. So this means the fight will definitely happen between Wlad and Tony on July 12th and without the fear of Wladimir being stripped by the IBF for not taking on their mandatory challenger. Good news all around!

"It is a great honor for us and an exciting opportunity to work with the current global heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko and his brother Vitali on some cool new mobile boxing games. Both brothers are enormous talents in the world of boxing and highly recognizable boxing icons. We will produce a series of high quality 2D and 3D mobile games based on the images of these outstanding boxers. We want to set new standards in mobile boxing game play with these new games. We expect to release the first game in the 3rd quarter of 2008. I believe this may be the 1st boxing game to showcase the Klitschko Brothers. I wonder if there will be any other professional boxers showcased on the game besides the Klitschko's. I'm not a real big mobile gamer, but I think I'm going to get this game when it comes out. I'll post my review of it when it comes out.

I dreamed that I lost my mother, that night she passed away. Listen to me Benny, I dreamed that I will knock out Klitschko, they are not going to stop me! I will tell you what a great feeling was, every fighter said I was going to lose, every boxing writer said I was going to lose. The great part was making them eat their words.
Too bad it's only a dream. For the record he was losing his fight with Sergei pretty bad and lucked out big time with a last second knockout.
BH: (Laughing) My bad, brother, I was one of them saying that as well.
SB: Apology accepted, but that is OK, it is nothing personal. I want to be the spoiler. I will be heavyweight champion again! It is politics, print this sh*t! I want them to read this, I want them to know that they are trying to stop Shannon Briggs and they are not going to stop me.
BH: You are coming back.
SB: I really never left to be honest with you. They are trying to force me to retire Benny, the powers that be and I am still going to fight for my fans. People are saying Wladimir is the best, how is he the best? He has been ducking me for years.
More like Wlad has had no reason to fight you for years.
BH: You want a tune up fight?
SB: Give me a title shot, I want to fight Samuel Peter, and he is another coward ducking me! I went out and got the belt, they sabotaged me. If I am lucky I will get another shot, hopefully fight Samuel Peter, if he doesn’t fight the Venus champion or whatever the f*ck he is, Vitali Quitschko, he always says he assh*le hurts or his nuts hurt! Be he can still come back and get a title shot? If they let me come back and get a title shot, I will fight anybody. If I have to take the road less traveled and fight every f*cking Tom, Dick and Harry then I will, but how is it that I stopped Liakhovich and he turns around and fights Valuev for the number one spot, the last time he looked up his ass was out on a table.
Vitali was a legitimate champion who had more than 1 title defense before retiring. He was also recognized as #1 in the division. Shannon has never been recognized as #1 in the division, and on his last run as a title holder he lost his belt on his 1st title defense. A little different than Vitali's situation!
BH: Politics.
SB: Come on Benny, talk to me, ease my nerves, how in the f*ck does he get stretched out on the table then fights Valuev. I’ll fight Valuev, I’ll knock Valuev the f*ck out! You keep this recorded homey and keep this the rest of your life. (Laughing)
He doesn't realize that if you lose a title match and have no fights at all for about a year, thats not usually a good case for getting title shots. I mean if he was recognized as #1 and then lost or retired and came back like Vitali it might be different.
BH: I am going to ask two more questions. What do you want to tell the fight world?
SB: I want to take the politics away, I want the fans to do their homework. I had to fight my way back, and nobody wants to fight Shannon Briggs. These people do not want to risk that I may come in shape, I can knock out any man on any given night. I took a major loss, but all I am asking for is to get a shot at one of these champions, I am asking the people to help me get my title back. I am willing to campaign and get my title back, I am the best heavyweight in the world.
BH: Closing thoughts.
SB: I am looking forward to filming this movie about my life, and to come back. I am looking forward to getting back in the ring. I am the spoiler. Let me say this, they are recycling Golota again, why? Because of Polish television, the money, that guy cannot fight, Golota will not come near me! His last fight against Mike Mollo, you got to be kidding me. Give me my chance, I’ll fight anybody!
I'd like to see Shannon fight Golota that would be a good match for both fighters to see who should go on and who should pack their bags.
In my opinion, if Briggs got himself into boxing shape (as opposed to bodybuilding shape), I'd say he would have a good chance at beating a few top guys in the division. I better chance that is than he has now, which is entirely rested upon his good punching power and not much else. I think he's taking the easy route. He knows that he would have a hard time beating the top guys in the division as far as a full fight, so he's bulking up and hoping he can take out his opponents with 1 punch. Shannon would be totally annihilated if he ever fought either Klitschko and he knows this. I think he's looking for one more big payday, thus why he hasn't taken the chance of fighting tune up fights and is wanting to just jump back in for a title shot with someone. I think he knows that his marketability would permanently be gone if he were to lose to a journeyman or contender.

Wladimir Klitschko Looking For IBF Exception
Wladimir Klitschko has two mandatory bouts due between IBF mandatory Alexander Povetkin and WBO mandatory Tony Thompson. Tony "The Tiger" Thompson has been waiting long so Wlad has opted to challenge him 1st, and is waiting for the OK from the IBF to proceed.
If all goes well the fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Tony Thompson would take place July 12th on HBO somewhere in Germany.
Shelly Finkel, Klitschko's adviser had the following to say:
"It looks like if they [the IBF] grant our wishes it will be Tony next,"
"Tony has been waiting the longest and that is the direction we want to go in,"
"He deserves the first shot."
While Tony Thompson's promoter Dan Goossen had this to say:
"We've certainly been talking with them and hopefully moving forward,"
"I'd love to have it come to reality because Tony has been very patient and hardworking, and it would be a great opportunity for him. I think he has the style and size to beat Klitschko."
Klitschko recently turned down $5 million to fight Povetkin, because he doesn't want the bout on another promoters (Sauerland Event) fight card, since he could do a better job himself as far as economics, etc.

Shannon Briggs Interview Part 1
Doghouse Boxing Interview With Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs Part 1
Shannon was recently interviewed at Doghouse Boxing and called out Wladimir Klitschko, Sam Peter, and the 'other Russian Heavyweight' again. Here's how the interview went:
Benny Henderson Jr.: Hey brother, what has been going down in the world of Shannon Briggs?
Shannon Briggs: I am still doing what I have been doing, I am looking to get my third heavyweight championship of the world. I feel more motivated and recharged than ever. I went into the Ibragimov fight with pneumonia and asthma and I lost the twelve round decision. The way things have unfolded it is funny because he wound up fighting Klitschko to unify the belts, which when I had the belt Klitschko wouldn’t fight me, and when he was supposed to he backed out and fought Brock instead. Then he wanted to fight Sultan when I did not have the belt, I think that was Manny’s doing and Klitschko and Shelly
knowing that I might knock out their great white dope. So with all that being said I am just looking to coming back and doing what I do, fighting my way back if I have to say that. But I feel like I am the top, but with all that being said I am looking forward to getting a shot at him, knocking Klitschko’s ass out, if not Samuel Peter, or any of the Russian champions, that is where I stand man, I am doing what I do feeding my family and knocking people out.
BH: It has been nine months since you retired from the ring, but you already answered one of my questions on returning to the ring.
SB: Hey man, you recording this Benny?
BH: Yeah.
SB: Great, I am glad because I talk fast and get excited because this gets my blood boiling. After the Ibragimov fight I did talk retirement, because I was very frustrated and very disappointed with the boxing politics man. Like I said that fight with Ibragimov was not supposed to happen when it did. I fought that guy with pneumonia, I had a host of doctors telling me that I should not fight the fight, including their doctors, but they threatened to strip me and ban me from boxing. The new I was under the weather and had pneumonia, it was no secret. I want the point to be made; they stole the title from me; for a better choice of words to make it sound better for them they bought the title from me, they paid for the title because they knew I was sick. I went to their doctors, in fact Benny their doctor said that I needed more time to recuperate. My doctors said to take off two to four months, their doctor said it could be up to six months to a year. With that being said, nobody gave me the luxury of being the interim champion, or being what they call Vitali, the super Venus champ or some sh*t like that.
Here is a man who has been off four years and can come back and fight for the title, they never gave me the same treatment as they did Maskaev when he said his back hurt, his finger hurt or his toe hurt. When he had fifteen months before he defended his title. Nobody gave me the luxury that they gave Chagaev when he said he had a stomach disease. I want to talk about the truth and in justice that they did to take the title away from me, forget what being see, they do not know the politics behind this bullsh*t. They stole the title from me! Klitschko would not fight me when I had the title, but what did he do, he ran and fought Sultan, because he knew I am bigger and stronger and I can knock his ass out with one punch!
People say that Wladimir is a great champion; he has been ducking me for years! I wanted to unify the titles, I went and got a belt and called out Klitschko, he said no!
BH: I remember when I interviewed Manny Steward and brought your name up, he told me you would be the most dangerous guy for Klitschko.
SB: Some fans are delusional because they say he is a great champion. He is not, he is a coward, he is a coward protected by HBO. He is very boring, the only reason why he is where he is because he brings money to the foreign television to the system. He is nothing! (Laughs)
BH: How would you respond to the naysayers out there that say that Shannon Briggs should just give it up?
SB: Give me a reason why. I have been heavyweight champion of the world twice, where is David Tua, where is Jeremy Williams, where is Larry Donald, where are all the guys that I turned pro with in 1992, where are all the guys that they say are so much better than me? Look at my record, I am the first heavyweight champion with asthma, I have more first round knockouts than any other heavyweight champion in history. So say what you want to say, I think I can speak well enough to hold a conversation, I am still here. I’ll fight anybody; Sam Peter will not fight me! I have been trying to fight Peter for five years, he will not fight me. These guys are protected, nobody is protecting Shannon Briggs. Nobody needs to! I’ll fight anybody!
Let me say one more thing Benny, I had thirteen wins in a row before I lost to Ibragimov, I was sick when I fought him, I have that on record. The naysayers can say what they want, they are just jealous people, and they are haters. Why should I quit! The best do not quit! They told me to quit a long time ago, George Foreman, God bless him, he picked me and I beat him. They say Foreman was robbed, so they put me in with Lewis, he beat me, it was a great fight. I came back! I am not going anywhere, and right now they are making a film about me, the first heavyweight champ with asthma. Let me tell you something Benny, I was told not to fight, I would never make it, but guess what, I was heavyweight champion of the world. If I listened to the naysayers where would I be?
BH: Hey Shannon, do me a favor brother.
SB: What’s that brother?
BH: Take a breath.
SB: (Laughs) Source
I said what I thought about a lot of what he says in another interview he did recently which I posted on this blog. So you can check that out instead of me repeating the same things. But, I must add this guy knows how to market himself. He turns a bad situation-- losing to Sultan Ibragimov who then loses easily to Wladimir Klitschko and makes it sound as though Wladimir isn't that tough. lol I read somewhere before the negotiations fell through with the Shannon / Wladimir fight it wasn't because Wladimir was scared of him. I do think that he is more of a threat than a lot of fighters out there because he is dangerous for one or two rounds and that's the only chance most fighters have against Klitschko. So I agree with Emanuel Steward about his opinion on Briggs.

Wladimir Klitschko Declines Povetkin Offer
The German paper 'Bild Zeitung' said that Wladimir turned down an offer of five million EUR from Sauerland Event to face IBF mandatory Alexander Povetkin. Wladimir Klitschko already has a fight with the WBO mandatory challegner Tony Thompson pending for this July. As a result of Wladimir's decision to face Tony instead of Alex, Sauerland Event have protested to the IBF. I will update what happens next when I get more information. Source
In my opinion, Wladimir's decision seems fair since Tony Thompson has been waiting over a year for his mandatory shot with the WBO and should be entitled to fight 1st over Alexander Povetkin who rather recently won a tournament by the IBF to proclaim Wladimir's mandatory status. I don't think Povetkin's people really want to face Wladimir in the ring. I heard nothing at all from Povetkin's people up to this point saying when they would like to face Wladimir. It was only AFTER there were discussions that Wladimir and Thompson were in the works that they all of a sudden wanted a fight to happen as soon as possible. In other words, it seems coincidental that they are wanting a fight now and weren't as vocal before about wanting to start negotiations. I believe this is an attempt to get a belt without facing Wladimir, since he may get stripped if the complain to the IBF and succeed.
Let's hope that Wladimir can face Thompson 1st and a agreement is made for a fight between Wladimir and Alexander. I believe Thompson is a harder match for Wladimir than Povetkin. So, I sincerely believe Wlad is doing what he feels is right and isn't trying to avoid anyone.
Vitali Klitschko Politics and Boxing
According to reports Vitali Klitschko will follow through and fight Samuel Peter for the WBC championship later this year, and will also take part in the elections in Kiev, Ukraine. He tried for the same post in 2005, but came in second to a businessman named Leonid Chernovetskiy. He will continue campaigning up until May 25.
